Football For All? Are the IFA making remembrance a political football?

22nd Ladies FC line up ahead of their respectful minutes silence of remembrance.

"The spirit of the game" is often used to highlight the respectful manner of which football is not only played but also as a great unifier of all religions, classes, creeds and colours. Therefore it is shocking for Unionist Truth Forum to learn of an incident which reportedly took place before an IFA Futsal Group game last night (09/11/18) between 22nd Ladies FC and St James Swifts Ladies at Queens P. E. Centre, an incident which was contrary to the spirit of that much valued ethos of the beautiful game.

Prior to the game kicking off the 22nd Ladies team lined up as is customary at this time of year to take part in a minutes silence in remembrance of those of all religions, creeds, colours and classes who gave their today so that we may have our tomorrow. It has been alleged that at this point that not only did the St James Swifts Ladies players walk out of the hall for the duration of the silence but they were joined by two IFA officials also walking out.

Unionist Truth Forum call on the Irish Football Association to publicly clarify or deny this shocking allegation.
